Wildflowers are nature's vanity. Showing themselves every year with the wish to attract as many insects and animals as possible to show off their beauty. Each year is a delightful treasure hunt to find the most beautiful.
I saw many of these fritillaria in the Tetons on a hike and in parking areas. I looked them up in the Wildflowers of Grand Tetons & Yellowstone Nat'l Parks by Richard Shaw. He said they were Leopard Lily:Purplespot Fritillaria. I remember last year in Alaska when I found a "chocolate lily". It is truly chocolate in color and very beautiful.
