It has an extended mid-section, like the molecular development machinery in the plant "stuttered" while creating the flower. The "stem" was much thicker than the normal flower as well.  Found in a pasture in Island Park, Idaho. June 21, 2010.

  • Yellow Coralroot (Corallorhiza trifida) is easy to overlook on the forest floor. It's only about 5 inches high and the little flowers are only about 3/8 inch high. These do NOT photosynthesize.
