  • In a dry lake bed high above Death Valley is the Racetrack Playa. Here mysterious (unknown) forces move large rocks across the lake bed. No one has seen them move and no one is convinced of the exact cause. Wind, and ice are thought to play a part.
  • Exposed strata of Vermillion Cliffs under a seasonal waterfall near Kanab, Utah.
  • Part of the geologic features known as the Mormon Rocks (from early settlers that were here). These are uplifted plates of Cajon Sandstone that have been shaped by wind and rain erosion and uplifted by the San Andreas fault that lies nearby.
