Great Divide Bicycle Ride (without competition)

Bikers (and hikers) ride along the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (or Tour Divide) on Red Rock Road (in Montana and idaho) to complete a personal best achievement challenge riding from Canada to Mexico or even farther. These bikers are not participating in a race but just following a lifelong dream to stretch themselves beyond their normal limits. Some are riding to support a cause like Cancer Research and others just to challenge themselves. I enjoy documenting their achievements and sharing them with you.

  • Kevin and Bob (son and father) are riding the Tour Divide trail from New Mexico to Canada. They are from Katy, Texas. They started on May 15th and are hoping to arrive by July 8th, 2009. Here they are at RedRock RV Park after a quick cold refresher drink.

They aren't racing against a group, but comparing their times to the previous group race. They left June 26th. Jason's bike broke in half and had to buy another one in Montana. Jason hails from Wethersfield, CT and Rohan from Rocky Hill, CT. On the right in the background is Nemesis Mountain of the East Centennials Range of the Rocky Mountains.
  • Rohan Freeman and Jason Kosh on July 7, 2009. Each are completing a Individual Timed Trial from Banff, Canada to the Mexican border on the Tour Divide Trail. Rohan started this trial immediately after completing a climb to the top of Mount Everest.

  • Jason Kosh and Rohan Freeman (right) on the old railroad tracks in Island Park, Idaho on their ITTD Individual Time Trial (ITT) Tour Divide race. I met them there to return a SPOT tracking device they had lost along the trail after stopping at RedRock RV Park. Jason hails from Wethersfield, CT and Rohan from Rocky Hill, CT. Rohan has just returned (in the last two weeks) from summiting Mt. Everest!
  • Ken is traveling the Divide Tour From the Canadian Border to the Mexican border with his friend Ed. They are in their late Sixties and still have what it takes to travel the distance. They are from Ohio. Here he's taking a lunch break on Red Rock Road at the continental divide (Montana/Idaho).
