  • Cicindela campestris , commonly called the green tiger beetle that hangs out in the sand along the Oak Creek in central Arizona. It has a hard shell over it's wings that is dotted with white spots. It's head is iridescent and appears from green to turquoise depending upon the sun orientation. Notice the white hairy underbody and legs. It's probably a little less than 1/2 inch in length. This was taken in late April 2011.
